About
Aimee Parlier
Aimee Parlier is a painter based in East Anglia, working primarily in oil and watercolour. Her work draws on the traditions of the northern European still life and landscape while engaging with questions of attention, light, and what it means to look carefully at ordinary things.
She studied painting at the Ruskin School of Art, Oxford, and subsequently at the Royal Drawing School, London. Her work has been shown at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize, and in numerous group and solo exhibitions across the UK and Europe.
Alongside her painting practice, she writes about art, literature, and the experience of seeing. Her essays have appeared in various publications and are collected here in the Writing section of this site.
Commissions are currently open. Original works, fine art prints, and publications are available in the shop.
Artist Statement
"I am interested in the moment before a painting becomes about something — the point at which light on a surface is still itself, before it resolves into symbolism or narrative. Most of my work tries to inhabit that moment for as long as possible."
